Frustration at UN climate negotiations has sparked a number of well-intentioned frameworks to cut global carbon emissions. In our view, none are as persuasive as Contraction & Convergence, but it is important to understand how it compares with other proposed strategies.

Some of these, such as Greenhouse Development Rights and Kyoto II claim to be related on C&C, but they adopt very different approaches and they lack C&C's rigorous focus on carbon emissions.

We present summaries of these proposals, taken from associated websites, together with our responses to each. We believe our comments are fair, but would be grateful if anyone connected with these proposals would draw our attention to any misinterpretations.
